) Asperger's Disorder is frequently misdiagnosed as Vain Personality Disorder, though clear as early as age three. In every case, the patient is self-centered and engrossed in a narrow range of interests and activities. The Asperger's patient body language - eye to eye gawk, body posture, facial expressions - is constricted and synthetic, similar to the narcissist's. His social dysfunctioning is the result of conscious haughtiness and the reluctance to invest scant psychological energy in cultivating relations with inferior and undeserving others. When confronted with potential Sources of Vain Supply the narcissist simply regains his social talents, his charm, and his gregariousness. Many narcissists reach the highest rungs of their community, church, firm, or voluntary organization.

Necessarily , Asperger's patients are understood by others to be cold, eccentric, insensitive, unexcited, repulsive, exploitative or emotionally-absent.
