Misdiagnosing Narcissism - Asperger's Disorder.

) Asperger's Disorder is frequently misdiagnosed as Vain Personality Disorder, though clear as early as age three.

In each case, the patient is self-centered and engrossed in a narrow range of interests and activities. The Asperger's patient body language - eye to eye gawk, body posture, facial expressions - is constricted and synthetic, similar to the narcissist's. Asperger syndrome behaviour. Nonverbal cues are almost absent and their interpretation in others lacking. When confronted with potential Sources of Narcissistic Supply the narcissist simply regains his social abilities, his charm, and his gregariousness. Many narcissists reach the highest rungs of their community, church, firm, or voluntary organization. The Asperger's patient frequently wants to be accepted socially, to have pals, to wed, to be sexually active, and to sire offspring. He just does not have an idea the way to go about it. To bypass the agony of rejection, they confine themselves to solitary activities - but, in contrast to the schizoid, not through choice. Aspergers syndrome is a neurological disorder. Aspergers children regularly have challenges in the communications area.

An Aspie as somebody with Aspergers is commonly referred, will have a tendency to have a particularly literal interpretation of language. A major reason for an Aspies problems with social working is the absence of experience of sophisticated social cues and patterns of speech,eg sarcasm. These ones have been labeled mirror neurons because they make your brain think you are essentially doing what you are watching some other person do. The words are the same but the voice changes. This would be considered a sophisticated cue and these are sometimes missed. Precise coaching can frequently be very effective in helping Aspergers youngsters learn the talents required. Cerebral narcissists derive Vain Supply from the consummate use they make of their innate verbosity. Neither is the Asperger's patient in a position to interpret nonverbal cues and gestures or to observe his very own misbehavior on such occasions.

Narcissists are similarly selfish - but only towards those that can't potentially serve as Sources of Vain Supply.
