Misdiagnosing Narcissism - Asperger's Disorder.

Social and occupational interactions are severely checked and conversational abilities are primitive. Yet, the gulf between Asperger's and pathological narcissism is huge. The Asperger's patient frequently wants to be accepted socially, to have pals, to wed, to be sexually active, and to sire offspring. Aspergers syndrome is a neurological disorder. The imaging that has been done means that in people with Aspergers this area of the brain grows and develops much more slowly whilst other areas grow more fast. New studies that have been released during the last year have begun to clarify what's not working in the correct way. We do things that people we think we know do. Tiny chemical signals that control what the brain does. So , if they see somebody making a movement with their face and they do not know what it implies, they aren't going to copy the seemingly worthless gesture at the right time, if at all. After a bit they'd stop listening to the movement at all. The words are the same but the voice changes. Therefore , whilst the narcissist avoids pain by excluding, devaluing, and dropping others - the Asperger's patient achieves the same result by withdrawing and by enthusiastically incorporating in his universe only 1 or 2 folk and 1 or 2 subjects of interest. The employment of language is another differentiating factor. He is similarly verbose at times ( and taciturn on other occasions ) but his subjects are few and, thus, tediously incessant. He's unlikely to obey conversational rules and etiquette ( for example, to let others talk in turn ).
